Senior C++ Programmer (Engine and Rendering)

Are you passionate about gaming and tired of crunch? Do you want to be part of making the best multiplayer adventure for girls? Star Stable is growing and we are hiring senior C++ programmers to join our Engine and Tools team here in Stockholm. We are looking for someone who has an interest in graphics and rendering as well as other parts of the engine. You will be an essential part of the team, working with the fundamental core components and tools of our game with extra focus on graphics. 

This is a collaborative role, working across the organisation together with designers, art, QA, animation; you really touch all areas of the game! You will work closely with the other programmers in a well-functioning team to deliver features and improvements in many different areas. 

We have been working with a live game for years and know how to do it with a sustainable work-life balance. Everyone at Star Stable is sitting together in one office with lots of internal communication and collaboration.

As a C++ programmer at Star Stable you will:

  • Build, refactor and maintain C++ code with high levels of stability and performance
  • Design and implement features and core systems in different areas such as gameplay systems, AI, networking, graphics, user interface, physics, animations with a special focus on (but not limited to) graphics
  • Solve complex problems, from designing and building new systems to optimising features to be both performant and scriptable, together with your colleagues

We think you have:

  • Strong knowledge in C++
  • Experience in a graphics API such as OpenGL and Metal
  • Knowledge of shaders in GLSL/HSL
  • Great debugging and optimisation skills
  • Solid math with a clear understanding of linear algebra
  • Proficiency with writing well-structured code and creating robust solutions
  • Strong empathy for our target audience and belief in our mission and values

It’s considered a plus if you also have:

  • Knowledge about CPU/GPU optimisation 
  • Knowledge about C++ on a shipped game project
  • Experience developing for multiple platforms such as MacOS, iOS, Linux, and Windows
  • Experience working with Perforce, Git, Jenkins and CMake
  • Experience in unit testing and a passion for automated testing
  • Knowledge with Relational Databases
